About the Founder

The person behind Finders.co.ke and the idea of making it easier to find useful services in Kenya.

About Collins

I'm Collins, a Kenya-based internet enthusiast, coder, and creator who enjoys using technology to solve everyday problems.

I've always been fascinated by the internet—not simply as a place to consume information, but as a powerful tool for connecting people, sharing ideas, and making everyday tasks easier. Coding has given me another way to explore that interest: building practical solutions that solve real problems for real people.

One of the projects that grew out of this interest is Finders.co.ke.

Why I Created Finders

Finding a good service provider shouldn't have to be difficult.

There are many talented and affordable individuals in Kenya who provide valuable services but have little or no presence on traditional websites. Instead, they often rely heavily on Facebook, TikTok, WhatsApp, and other social-media platforms to find clients.

This is particularly common in less heavily covered service categories.

For example, someone looking for a private music instrument tutor, martial arts instructor, dog walker, personal trainer, home tutor, or another specialized service may find that there are very few dedicated websites where they can easily discover suitable providers.

The alternatives are often large companies or established businesses whose prices may be beyond what an ordinary client wants or can afford.

At the same time, there may be an independent professional nearby who provides exactly the service the client needs at a much more affordable price—but that person may not have a website.

The person who needs the service struggles to find the right provider, while the person capable of providing the service struggles to reach the right client.

That's one of the problems I wanted Finders to help solve.

Why Not Just Use Social Media?

Social media is certainly useful for discovering services, and many independent service providers do an excellent job of promoting themselves there.

But finding a service provider through social media isn't always straightforward.

People encounter advertisements and promotional posts constantly, and it can be difficult to determine whether a particular offer is genuine, current, suitable, or trustworthy. A potential client may also have to search through numerous posts, profiles, comments, and messages before finding someone who actually matches their needs.

I believe there is room for a simpler approach.

Instead of making people search endlessly for a provider, Finders is designed around the idea of helping people describe what they need and connect with a suitable service provider.

The Idea Behind Finders.co.ke

Finders is built around a relatively simple idea:

Make it easier for people to find the right service provider, especially in categories that are often overlooked by traditional service directories and large companies.

I am particularly interested in the space between two extremes:

  • Large companies with established websites and relatively expensive services.
  • Independent individuals who may offer excellent and affordable services but have little online presence beyond social media.

There are many capable people in the second group. The challenge is helping them become discoverable to the people who need them.

That's where I believe the internet can be particularly useful.

Building Practical Internet Solutions

My interest in coding goes beyond writing code for its own sake.

I enjoy thinking about how technology can remove unnecessary friction from everyday tasks.

Sometimes the solution doesn't need to be complicated. A well-designed website, a straightforward request form, a useful directory, or a better way of connecting two people can make a surprisingly large difference.

This is the kind of thinking that motivates me when working on Finders and other internet-based projects.

I like identifying a problem, understanding why people currently struggle with it, and then asking:

Can technology make this easier?

If the answer is yes, I enjoy trying to build it.

What I Hope Finders Can Achieve

Finders.co.ke is still part of an ongoing journey, but my goal is to build something genuinely useful.

I want Finders to make it easier for people in Kenya to discover reliable service providers while also giving independent professionals an additional way to reach potential clients.

The focus isn't simply on having the largest directory possible. I'd rather build something that is useful because it helps solve a real problem.

Whether someone needs a private piano teacher, martial arts instructor, dog walker, tutor, trainer, or another specialized service, finding the right person should be considerably easier than searching through endless social-media posts.

That's the problem I'm interested in solving.

A Little More About Me

I'm based in Kenya and spend a lot of time exploring the internet, learning about technology, and working on ideas for online solutions.

I'm particularly interested in coding, web development, online platforms, and the ways relatively simple technology can make people's work easier.

I enjoy the process of taking an idea that may initially seem small and asking how it could become a useful tool for other people.

For me, the most rewarding part of building something on the internet isn't simply seeing the finished website. It's knowing that someone can use it to save time, find something they need, reach a potential client, or solve a problem that previously required much more effort.

That's what keeps me interested in building on the web.

My Work With Finders

Through Finders.co.ke, I'm working toward creating a practical bridge between people looking for services and independent professionals who can provide them.

There are countless skilled people whose services deserve to be easier to discover. There are also countless people looking for those services who simply don't know where to find the right person.

I believe the internet can do a better job of bringing those two sides together.

And that's the idea behind Finders.
